Complementary treatments help the mind and body, reduce mental stress, and alleviate the difficulties of coping with cancer, thereby improving patients’ chances of healing. It is from a place of profound belief in the importance of these treatments that Ruach Dromit was established.
The organization operates a center for complementary medicine in the Negev for those coping with cancer. Ruach Dromit was established for patients and their families, and provides help and support through complementary medical treatments, which are provided free of charge at Soroka Hospital, and for a symbolic fee of NIS 75 at the Ruach Dromit Center.

Why are we here?
Data shows that 15,000 cancer patients reside in the Negev region, with 2,000 new patients added every year. In the past several years, complementary medical treatments have earned an increasingly significant role in helping to cope with the disease. Complementary medical clinics are opening up in different hospitals around Israel, but institutionalized centers that offer complementary medical treatments tailored to cancer patients have yet to be established at Soroka Hospital or its environs. The cost of complementary treatments that are not provided by institutional centers can run high, and patients from a lower socioeconomic status cannot always afford them. A large percentage of the Negev’s residents are of a lower socioeconomic status, and Ruach Dromit seeks to respond to the needs that consequently arise. Ruach Dromit is the only organization of its kind that operates in the entire Negev, and its mission is to enable the region’s cancer patients to receive the care they require at a reasonable cost.
Our aspirations
Our vision is to create a supportive and enabling community with a holistic approach for cancer patients and their families in the Negev. In order to realize our vision of creating an established community that consistently and effectively supports patients, we work in three locations, Soroka Hospital, the Ruach Dromit Center, and patients’ homes.
We believe that appropriate treatment is the right of every person, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, financial ability, or geographic location. We work daily to make complementary medicine more accessible and to raise awareness regarding its contribution to the entire cancer-patient community. We will do anything we can to reach every patient who is seeking holistic care in the Negev region and across the south of Israel.
