Just Because of the Spirit in Memory of Arieh Guedj – Hospice Homecare

Hospice caregiving mostly focuses on the patient’s quality of life, on ensuring a comfortable, calming and embracing environment, and on pain relief.

Coping with cancer can in some cases lead to complex situations. In cases in which a physical limitation prevents leaving the house for treatment, or in a life-threatening situation, the patient can choose home hospice – supportive treatments provided in the patient’s familiar and familial environment.

The ‘Just Because of the Spirit’ unit

The Ruach Dromit crew includes a team of volunteers certified in complementary medicine who have a remarkable approach to the soul. In coordination with Maccabi and Clalit’s Health Fund hospice teams, they arrive on a fully voluntary basis for a series of 8 meetings with the patient, and offer touch therapy, massages, and energy therapies that help to manage pain, balance side effects, and alleviate symptoms.

Alongside the complementary medical treatments, the ‘Just Because of the Spirit’ team brings with it an embracing spirit, an opportunity for a pleasant conversation, a smile, and a new energy that fits in with, and helps, the process of coping with the disease at home and among the family.

Embracing the families

Caring and accompanying a loved one on the cancer journey is not a simple task. The ‘Just Because of the Spirit’ team embraces the patient’s supportive network and offers complementary medical treatments to accompanying family members as well. Through these treatments we enable family members to take a moment to lean back, be supported, even enjoy themselves with renewed energies for the path ahead.

The ‘Just Because of the Spirit’ team’s complementary medical treatments are fully volunteer-based and free of charge. At the moment, we operate in the Be’er Sheva region, Ashkelon and Kiryat Gat in partnership with Maccabi and Clalit Health Funds.

This unit is the initiative of Ms. Orly Guedj in memory of her late husband, Arieh Guedj, and was made possible through her generosity.
